Length + Girth Calculator

Fee estimates are sourced from each carrier's published 2026 rate documentation, linked above. Some carriers (DHL, Canada Post) trigger their handling fee based on an individual side length rather than combined length+girth — this calculator checks length+girth only, so a fee could apply even when a row shows OK. Fees change seasonally (especially UPS, FedEx, USPS) and vary by account type and shipping zone; always confirm the exact charge with the carrier before shipping.

Carrier limits compared

Every major carrier publishes a maximum combined length plus girth. Exceeding the limit triggers either oversize surcharges or outright rejection.

How girth is calculated

For a rectangular box, girth equals twice the sum of the two smaller dimensions:

girth = 2 × (width + height)
length + girth = length + 2 × (width + height)

For a cylindrical tube, girth is the circumference of the circular cross-section:

girth = π × diameter
length + girth = length + π × diameter

Always measure outer dimensions of the finished package, including any padding, wrapping, or protrusions. Carriers round up to the next whole inch when verifying.
